The World at War - Now!

You have to feel sorry for Georgia.
They send 2000 troops to Iraq and America says thank you, you're a brave new country that will never stand alone.
Russia invades, bombs Georgia and America says, thats a tough one for poor Georgia, here have some aid, but we can't spare the troops right now.
On top of that the American envoy to the UN makes a statement that they days of toppling a ruling power by military force are gone. So how the hell can America say that after they used military force to invade Iraq?

Introductions

The term heretic is of course related to religious persecution but did you know that heresy actually means choice? The genesis of this is that the person was offered the choice of saying that they were a sinner, or their belief was incorrect and that the Church was right all along. Of course if your choice was to stick to your convictions then your heresy would land you in a world of pain.

Galileo was locked up by the church because he had the courage to say they were wrong. The earth could not be the centre of the universe. And with all their enlightenment they finally issued a pardon, in 2007.

Can we really say that we’ve moved on since then. Can we really say that the world is a better, more enlightened place. Do we still follow beliefs that we know in our hearts to be wrong. Do people still suffer persecution for their beliefs.
Will we ever truly enter an age of science and wisdom or will the clouds of superstition continue to block the light
